Suit for interacting with other human beings (2024)
Finally! The suit that will help you in your next social interaction! It has everything you need: with everything that is stopping you now brought up to the surface and bubbling. Got tension in your legs? Can’t lift them? Don’t you worry, the suit has them snatched - they can barely move, and not only because of the inside weight. Insides feeling funny? The bowels are already spilling out from under the coat. The pain in your chest now spikes to the surface through the coat and up to the mask. Can’t do anything? You will be able to do even less with these arms! Let your pain shine: let it be invisible no more.

The project engages with the idea of clothing being used as a communicator in society: how we dress relates us to a group of people. The performance doesn’t stop with how we choose to dress ourselves, but how we choose to interact with others, and who we choose to be. The garment is designated a specific use, stating the function outright.

The long arms are taken from garments like straitjackets, providing involuntary restriction to the person. The restriction raises questions of agency, of what is considered to be “normal.” In this case, it is taking the restrictions that exist within the body and exaggerating them.

The suit breaches the inside/outside boundary in relation to the body, turning it inside out - for ease of communication. The insides of your body are made visible: portrayed by the garment worn around the body, covering it whole, creating a new inside, and becoming outside itself. The insides cover the wearer whole. The wearer becomes the insides. The interaction with other people, then, is made impossible by wearing the suit.
